Decorated Objects

Since the time of the ancient Egyptians gilding has been used to embellish furniture, ornament, jewelry and decorative objects. In more recent times, gilding has been used on picture frames for art, on glass and other surfaces. There is no paint that has the lustrous sheen and shimmer of a gilded surface.

Small End Table

Silver Leaf Finish

Designed by the renowned architect Eero Saarinen, this end table was gilded in various combination finishes to include: 23.5 KT gold, 22KT moon gold, silver, and aluminum leaf. The designs were authorized by Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum and Saarinen Family Reproductions.

Gilded Bagel

Private Commission New York, New York

This is an actual bagel which was gilded with copper leaf. It was a difficult commission, as the bagel had to be dried completely, coated with fiberglass resin, primed, sized, gilded with copper leaf and sealed with two coats of sealer.

Gilded Pipe Organ

Orange County Performing Arts Center, CA

This massive pipe organ was built by C.B. Fisk in Massachusetts. We travelled to the Fisk shop and applied over 2.500 SF of aluminum leaf to the pipes, which were sealed with a catalyzed coating prior to shipping to California.

Gilded Ice Sculpture

Gilding can be applied to any surface which can be painted and even to some which cannot. This ice sculpture was gilded with gold leaf as a demonstration of the versatility of this unique material.

Working under a contract from London Gild, these wonderfully carved chairs were prepared and gilded with 23.75 KT gold leaf, then toned and sealed to protect the gild from wear.

Gilded Guitar

A Study in Metamorism

This guitar was custom built by Pat Murray Guitars for Jimmy K. Bones, the lead guitarist for Joan Jett. The body was gilded with 23.75 KT gold leaf . After gilding we developed a technique to add a design to the leaf (in this case an hexagonal pattern) which changes as the light plays across it. Thus the name.

Watergilded Dolphins

We are experts in watergilding and conservation of objects. These plaster dolphins were cast from an 18th century piece and watergilded with 23 KT gold leaf. They were then burnished. The dolphin in the background was toned after burnishing.
